Charities Review Council believes that nonprofits who provide information to prospective donors and other constituents promote informed and collaborative philanthropy. Better educated donors are more able to make decisions when they can learn each facet of a nonprofit; from governing body to purpose, financial statements and the progress each organization has made towards its goal.
The Council also believes that public disclosure of financial information demonstrates a nonprofit’s commitment to transparency and building public trust. (Read more about our Accountability Standards®.)
