Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
In 2015, Accessible Space, Inc.’s (ASI) departments had the following impacts:
1. Assisted Living Services served 234 adults with physical disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries in 2015. Assisted Living and Shared Living units maintained an occupancy rate of 2.8%. The service location in Jamestown, North Dakota closed.
2. The Nevada Community Enrichment Program (NCEP) and Nevada Supportive Housing Services (NSHS) increased NCEP’s daily census and served 124 individuals with traumatic brain injuries. The new NSHS site Casa Oliva was completed in September 2015. Licensing the new service site took longer than anticipated. As of September 1, 2016 the nine unit building was fully occupied.
3. Human Resources continued to hire, train and manage ASI employees.
4. Finance provided financial management for 120 nonprofit affiliates. Though the Jamestown, North Dakota site closed, Minnesota, Montana and Nevada continued their successful operations. ASI has not used its Line of Credit since 2012.
5. Real Estate Development opened two new sites in Las Vegas, Nevada totaling 75 units. One 38 unit site was under construction; another 50 unit site was in development.
6. Property Management achieved an average occupancy rate of less than 5% in 2015. Casa Oliva located in Las Vegas, Nevada became the first owned and managed building funded solely by HOME Program Funds.
7. Fund Development raised $5,913,918 in grants from foundations and government entities. Another $335,715 in funding requests was outstanding at the end of 2015.
Current Goals
Programmatic Goals of Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI) in 2016:
Assisted Living Services: To maintain maximum (97%) occupancy at service sites through increased marketing and positive relationships with referral agencies, as well as with residents and their families. To increase the number of residents receiving services at existing Assisted Living (AL) sites to 210 by December 31, 2018 and expand AL services to seniors.
Nevada Community Enrichment Program: To continue to provide cost-effective, community-based comprehensive rehabilitation services including high quality day treatment, residential, neurobehavioral and independent living services to Nevadans with disabilities.
Human Resources Department: To leverage multiple recruiting sources and platforms in order to recruit sufficient numbers of qualified staff. To engage managers to train, recognize and retain well-qualified employees – and engaging those staff in the shared pursuit of the mission of Accessible Space, Inc.
Finance Department: To provide quality financial management for ASI's services and increasing base of 119 nonprofit affiliates.
Real Estate Development Department: To develop safe, accessible and affordable housing for persons with disabilities and/or seniors. To secure viable forms of primary financing and innovative development methods in support of ASI’s mission to provide accessible, affordable “housing with care.”
Property Management Department: To provide safe, accessible, affordable and well-managed housing for persons with disabilities and/or seniors. To maintain an annual average occupancy rate of 95% or higher and achieve full occupancy in compliance with funding/ underwriting requirements on all new construction housing developments with a goal to secure full occupancy within 120 days of a new development’s Certificate of Occupancy/Placed In Service Date.
Fund Development Department: To raise 15-20% of ASI’s 2016-2018 budgets through foundation/ corporate grants, municipal/government grants, civic organizations and individual contributions.

Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI) serves very low-income adults with physical disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries as well as very low-income seniors.
Geographic Area Served
Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI) is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota and incorporated in 1978. ASI provides accessible, affordable housing, property management and supportive living services to 3,190 very low-income individuals with disabilities. Services are provided in 150 residential homes and apartment settings in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area and Greater Minnesota, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Additionally, adults with traumatic brain injuries are served in residential/day treatment rehabilitation programs in Las Vegas, Nevada.
