Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
We served 64 children from the Stearns, Benton, and Sherburn counties last year. Of those 64 children, 42 went on to kindergarten in elementary schools this fall. 78% of the children leaving our program left reading at or above grade level. 67% of the children knew their numbers 1-100, while kindergarten readiness asks them to be able to identify 1-10, so well above standard. Also 83% were doing simple math at the time of their departure, with 20% doing multiplication and division. But it is in the social skills that children with a Montessori education really flourish academically. The social grace that is such a key component to our programming allows for the children to be able to express their feelings, lead their classrooms, share, practice self discipline, and self control that allow them to be successful learners throughout their life-times. Identified last year as another component to kindergarten readiness, 90% of our children moved on meeting standard.
