Impact and Programs

Accomplishments Of all children receiving at least 30 hours of tutoring in 2013-14: --94% (92 of 98) kindergartners were first-grade ready; eliminating the need for tutoring in first grade --58% (36 of 62) of 1st graders, and --76% (45 of 59) of 2nd and 3rd graders reached their ESLC reading goals 2013-14 at a Glance: 295 Children served 175 Volunteer tutors 31 P-T Educators 4,889 Volunteer hours 7,547 P-T Educators/staff hours 12,426 Hours of tutoring
Current Goals East Side Learning Center goals include: (1) helping children reach their appropriate reading level by fourth grade, (2) empowering them to be successful in school and society, and (3) providing opportunities for parents to participate in the reading progress of their children at home.
Community or Constituency Served Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade who are not reading at their grade level and don't have resources to get help.
Geographic Area Served We serve in low-economic neighborhoods of St. Paul, MN
