Mission Statement

The mission of Helping Paws is to further people's independence and quality of life through the use of Assistance Dogs.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments Over the last fiscal year, with our growth, it was necessary to revise our mission statement to reflect all that Helping Paws does of furthering people's independence and quality of life through the use of Assistance Dogs. We also made our Veterans with PTSD pilot program an official program. Accomplishments include: 26 puppies were born from our breeding program; 12 service dog placements, 5 Veterans received their service dogs; 88 service dogs in training throughout the year and 86 graduate teams received one-on-one follow-up to help them work on specific issues that may arise in the course of day-to-day activities.
Current Goals Our fiscal year is from June 1, 2016 - May 31, 2017. Our program goals are: - breeding program will produce 24-32 puppies - train and place 12 service dogs to individuals with physical disabilities - train and place 4-6 service dogs to veterans with PTSD - provide follow-up services to 100 graduates
Community or Constituency Served Individuals (10+ years and older) with physical disabilities and/or Veterans with PTSD
Geographic Area Served Helping Paws of Minnesota serves the State of Minnesota, western Wisconsin and northern Iowa.
