Lakeshore Players, Inc.

Mission Statement

Lakeshore Players' mission is "to provide community education and enrichment through the performing arts"

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments In fiscal year 2014-15, Lakeshore produced 18 live productions with 110 public performances at our own White Bear Lake Theater and 37 performances at off-site venues. In addition, we presented concerts by two other performing groups. We held 26 classes and workshops for youth and adults, and premiered 11 new shows. A total of 883 people saw shows at no charge. Overall attendance increased 34%. Earned revenue increased 1% and contributed income increased by an astounding 1041% due to starting our Capital Campaign and raising $1.2 million by the end of the fiscal year to build a new community performing arts center.
Current Goals Goals for the current year mirror those in the completed year, with a few updates: produce a nine-show main stage season; continue theater arts outreach and educational services for adults and children; continue to build community partnerships and relationships, broaden outreach opportunities, and increase awareness and access; maintain and grow attendance; continue Capital Campaign to raise funds for construction of a new community performing arts center; ensure organizational stability through excellent management; and maintain contributed income at an average of 30% of operating income.
Community or Constituency Served Most recent compiled data from our last fiscal year ending June 30, 2015, shows individuals experienced Lakeshore Players 23,409 times (7,382 seniors, 3,585 students, and 12,442 adults). Additionally, 110 youth, ages 3-18 participated in theater arts classes and summer camps. Participants typically comprise about 11% people of color. About 48% of attendees are senior citizens over age 65. The socio-economic range covers those with limited-incomes, reflected in those attending “pay-what-you-can” performances or with free tickets (1,443 last season), to those attendees who support LPT through financial contributions.
Geographic Area Served About half of the 23,409 people served by Lakeshore Players came from the northeast Twin Cities metropolitan area and surrounding Ramsey County communities, with the other half coming from across the greater Twin Cities.
