Accomplishments
In 2016 LifeSource experienced a high level of goal attainment. 179 organ donors generously saved the lives of 586 individuals through organ donation for transplantation; an additional 311 lives were saved through organ donation from donors outside of the LifeSource geographic region. 557 tissue donors generously saved and enhanced the lives of tens of thousands through the donation of musculoskeletal, bone, skin, heart valve and vein. LifeSource achieved a 62.6% donor designation share in Minnesota, North Dakota and
South Dakota.
Current Goals
LifeSource's strategic plan is organized by six pillars of excellence: growth, stewardship, service, quality, people and community. Our plan is for five years and each year has specific goals. Growth: optimize and increase organ and tissue donation by achieving at least 510 organs transplanted from local donors and achieve at least 500 tissue donors. Stewardship: leverage resources to ensure sustainability and growth by achieving a net margin of 3 to 7%. Service: attain stakeholder loyalty through achievement of customer engagement top box scores and achieve key partner engagement top box scores for donor hospitals 92%, medical examiners offices 60% and driver and vehicle services 55%. Quality: Recognized for excellence in organ and tissue donation through achievement of Performance Excellence Network score of 600. People: Achieve a culture of team engagement and accomplishment through achieving top workplace status and sustaining a high performance workforce through retention of greater than or equal to 90%. Community: Develop a culture where everyone shares the gift of life by achieving at least 67% donor designation share and $420,000 in philanthropic gifts.
Community or Constituency Served
LifeSource, as the federally designated organ procurement organization for the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and portions of Wisconsin, serves the entire population through donation referrals made by all 287 hospitals in this geographic region; organ and tissue donors are of all races, ethnicities, and ages.
