Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
The goal of MINN’s educational programming is to bring relevant and current issues to its constituency for discussion and dissemination. MINN aspires for its educational events to spur innovation and challenge the status quo, aiming to push the international development community to be even more effective and thoughtful. IN 2015, the Education Committee hosted 6 events with 313 registrants.
The goal of MINN’s networking activities is to provide a space for those interested in
international development and humanitarianism to connect and support each other in
their work. In 2015, 95 people registered for 7 MINN networking events.
Additionally, this year MINN’s theme, “Fostering Minnesota’s Global Engagement,” recorded an impressive attendance of 229 practitioners and supporters, continuing the IDEA Summit’s legacy as the largest gathering of international NGOs and practitioners in Minnesota, ever. The conference
included a keynote, morning and afternoon breakout sessions, a marketplace filled with
community groups relevant to development workers, and a series of closing ideas and remarks from several speakers.
Current Goals
We are currently developing a strategic plan. We identified the following organizational goals and currently have working groups developing yearly goals beginning this year, 2016 for the next five years.
Goal: MN-based INGOs will have access to resources and services that fulfill identified organizational needs and lead to increased organizational capacity to conduct international development work.
Goal: International development supporters and practitioners in Minnesota will have access to needed resources and services that improve the professional capacity of international development practitioners.
Goal: MINN will have expanded and strengthened membership.
Goal: MINN will have a volunteer program that facilitates engagement and support multiple-year retention.
Goal: MINN will have increased and diversified revenue to ensure growth and long-term sustainability of services and programming for it members.
Community or Constituency Served
Our community are International practitioners and supporters in Minnesota who want to learn, network and exchange professional expertise by providing a collaborative environment for Minnesota international NGOs to learn and exchange ideas.
Founded in the spring of 2005, The Minnesota International NGO Network serves to connect all international humanitarian and development practitioners and supporters based in Minnesota, through education, networking, and information resources. Whether you are new to the world of international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) or a seasoned veteran, MINN is your forum to connect with colleagues and stay aware of what other NGOs based in Minnesota are doing around the world.NGO stands for Non-Governmental Organization. A non-governmental organization is an organization that is neither a part of a government nor a conventional for-profit business. Usually set up by ordinary citizens, NGOs may be funded by governments, foundations, businesses, or private persons.
Geographic Area Served
Primarily Minnesota, but we serve anyone who is interested in joining our activities from the US and internationally.
