Nexus

Mission Statement

Strengthening lives, families, and communities through our cornerstone values

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments Nexus supported the mental and behavioral health needs of 1,086 youth in Minnesota and Illinois during 2015. This included young people ranging in age from 10 to 21 years old who struggle with significant mental health issues and trauma-based conditions that have resulted in family relationship issues, unhealthy behaviors and other life challenges. Campus-based services typically connect youth with services in a residential setting over several months. Services include psychiatric care, residential treatment, group homes, transitional and independent living programs, vocational and aftercare services as well as onsite education programs. Locations included Mille Lacs Academy (Onamia, MN), Nexus Glen Lake (Minnetonka, MN), Onarga Academy (Onarga, IL), and Indian Oaks Academy (Manteno, IL). Additionally, Indian Oaks Academy served 49 youth through its involvement with Redeploy Illinois, a state program that provides community-based outreach programs for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. 250 youth were served through Starfish Family Homes, which provides support for foster families and children in their care Nexus is also working with its affiliates (Gerard Academy and Kindred Family Focus in Minnesota and Woodbourne Center, Inc. in Maryland) to increase community-based supports and mental health resources. The addition of a formal development department will help identify community support for these expanded efforts. By expanding our continuum of care we can better support the safety, permanency and well-being of youth and families in their own communities.
Current Goals Nexus will advance its mission and actualize its vision through the constant pursuit of the following priorities: Build a Continuum of Care to Provide More Solutions for Youth, Families, and Communities Excel in Long-Term Youth and Family Stability using the Nexus Practice Model* Deliver Exceptional Customer Service Achieve Clinical and Staff Excellence with Training, Mentoring, and Collaboration Develop and Retain a High-Performing Workforce and Positive Workplace Culture Use Data and Research to Inform Decisions, Improve Practices, and Achieve Lasting Outcomes Advocate on Behalf of Children, Families, and Communities through Media and Government Relations Use Technology to Enhance Services and Efficiencies Expand Mission through Acquisition, Growth, Partnerships, and Diversification of the Revenue Streams Support our Mission through Regional Fund Raising
