United Way of Southwest Minnesota

Mission Statement

Uniting people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities in Southwest Minnesota.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments In 2014-15, United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) helped more than 39,000 people receive necessary services through more than 30 quality community partner programs and 12 internal initiatives. UWSWMN's internal initiatives are focused on what it takes to have SuccessBy6; preparing children to be ready and successful when entering kindergarten. Approximately 14, 492 area children and families are being served through UWSWMN's SuccessBy6 efforts this year. UWSWMN grants dollars in five focus areas. They are Education, Income (financial stability), Health, Safety & Well-Being and Hunger. Together, United Way and the people of Southwest Minnesota are working to: * Help children and youth achieve their potential. * Increase and promote financial stability and independence. * Increase the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors. * Increase education, prevention and awareness so that people are supported and safe. * Increase access to food and nutritional awareness.
