Mission Statement

We protect and promote the basic needs of people in poverty through the power of legal volunteers.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments In 2016 VLN provided over 9,000 legal services to more than 7,500 low-income clients impacting more than 19,000 household members. Reported outcomes included being able to pay for daily necessities, being in a better position to keep or find a job, being in a better position to keep or find housing, having improved housing conditions, being physically safer and having an improved quality of life. In addition, the legal services provided protected money and/or benefits for the clients in an amount in excess of $10 million.
Current Goals Annual goals (as part of three year strategic plan) 1. Increase number of legal services delivered to more people in need. 2. Increase the percentage of clients who have stabilized or improved life circumstances.

Geographic Area Served We primarily serve the residents of Hennepin County but also have targeted programs that serve residents on a statewide basis.
